Whilst waiting for the green light from the government for pubs to re-open, Bob Musker, landlord of the Horse & Groom in Westbury, as well as offering a takeaway service, has been busy making the business Covid-secure for his customers.
Bob says that lots of the measures he’s taken are those that you would no doubt expect such as Perspex screens at the bar, arrows on the floor and tables spaced to 2 metres. But he says he has also introduced some innovative ideas as well. Bob said, “What we’ve tried to do is to make our customers feel safe in our business.
“The changes are noticeable just as soon as you approach the pub entrance, with clear guidance signage. At the front door, a thermal entry system has been installed so that customers and staff can take their temperature before entering – simply by placing your wrist near the unit it will take your temperature and give a message to pass if your temperature is normal – if you have an abnormal temperature an alarm sounds.
“If you don’t feel comfortable going to the bar, then you can place your order by phone for food or drink and the waiting staff will bring your order to you in the garden, marquee, terrace and even in the skittle alley, which now has its own toilet facility.
Bob reopened the Horse & Groom seven years ago, winning the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence four years running.
He said, “I understand that people will be cautious about going out but our staff will be returning to work from 29th June for extensive training on our ‘new normal’ and we will be ready to open on 4th July and welcome back our customers.”
