WESTBURY Golf Club has gone from strength-to strength over the past few years thanks to the greenkeeping team’s hard work which has seen a record number of people playing the course either as members or through the pay and play option.
“The club is owned and run by its members, and the relatively new greenkeeping team have transformed the course in the last two years,” said club captain Ross Privett. “The greens are in excellent condition, the fairways have benefited from extra ditch/drainage work, the rough is tidy and ready for spring growth, and even the bunkers have been given a makeover. New signage on the course will make it easier for visitors to navigate.
“The club’s aim is to offer affordable, quality golf to all members of the community. The flat, nine-hole parkland course is a challenge to experienced golfers and at the same time, it is designed to be enjoyable to those new to the game, or reaching an age where the golf and social interaction is more important than a five-mile uphill trek.
“The View, which members use as a clubhouse, has also gone through a huge transformation and it is such a great venue now. It’s a real pleasure to have a coffee and bacon butty before a round and a nice pint afterwards.”
Annual membership is £365 which offers unlimited golf for £1 a day. Monthly payment option are available and membership includes 10% discount at the clubhouse. Non-members are welcome with Pay and Play rounds from £12.
The club has vibrant Ladies’ and Seniors’ section organising weekly tournaments and a full calendar of friendlies against other clubs.
“It’s fantastic to see so many golfers enjoying our club,” added Ross. “We pride ourselves on our welcoming atmosphere and inclusivity, particularly our Sunday morning competitions with a beer and laugh afterwards.”
