A TEAM of nine from the local accountancy firm Gooding Accounts will scale Wales’ highest peak Yr Wyddfa, formally known as Snowdon, this summer with the aim of raising at least £2,000 for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Led by expert guides, the team will begin the climb at 2am, continuing in complete darkness to reach the summit to witness the sunrise.
The Snowdon / Yr Wyddfa trek team is made up of accountancy, payroll and marketing professionals representing all three of Gooding Accounts’ offices in Westbury, Warminster and Melksham. The challenge is part of the firm’s ten-year anniversary celebrations, which will see the entire Gooding Accounts team raise £50,000 for local charities.
Company accounts team leader Sharon said, “We’re all looking forward to the challenge and are keen to get started walking the countryside of Wiltshire in preparation. We’re thrilled to be able to do our bit to help such a fantastic charity which is so close to our hearts.”
The team was recently welcomed to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance base in Semington to find out more about the vital work the charity carries out across the county.
Marketing manager Emma said, “It’s such a privilege to visit the base and meet some of the team who provide this lifesaving service for us all here in Wiltshire.”
In 2024, Wiltshire Air Ambulance will need to raise £4.5 million to continue its vital services. The charity receives no regular funding from the government or National Lottery grants and relies on donations from the public and local businesses to fund the helicopter, crew and all of their support staff.
The highly specialised critical care team can reach anywhere in Wiltshire in 11 minutes and fly to the centre of Bath in just four minutes. This speed can literally mean the difference between life and death for a patient.
The event is being coordinated by Wiltshire Air Ambulance, so if you’d like to join the Gooding Accounts team on the mountain simply visit their website to find out more.
