TUTOR Lorraine Mahoney has spoken about the benefits for children of singing during this period of lockdown.
Lorraine, who is principal of Little Voices NW Wiltshire & Bath said, “Lockdown 3 is well upon us and it’s hard for children and parents at home this winter, especially with having to educate children at home. We all need some fun and to ensure our mental health is not suffering.
“Singing relieves stress and anxiety, improves mental health and mood, enhances memory, improves your posture and your lung function. We all need to be singing and enjoying the lyrics to songs.
“At Little Voices our lessons are online in virtual classrooms and we are singing every week. Parents are happy that their children are having fun and making friends.
“We absolutely love seeing our pupils online each week. They are full of smiles and love the online drama and singing. We ensure it is a safe place where they can talk about how they are feeling, and are surrounded by their friends, albeit virtually, of course. We all have so much fun and look forward to seeing their smiley faces each week. We feel we are having a positive impact on our pupils’ mental health and well-being.”
“Every parent can access 4 free pre-recorded lessons for their child by completing a short online form. The lessons will be sent once a week for 4 weeks – www.littlevoices.org.uk/free-lockdown-lessons
“Little Voices was featured on Sky News in the first lockdown and we are aiming to help as many children as possible this time around. Parents are raving about the lessons and enjoying observing their children participating every week. It’s fun to see them interacting and being with friends.”
Little Voices NW Wiltshire & Bath are also offering 2 free virtual trial lessons to new enquiries. Simply contact Lorraine to arrange this by emailing bath@littlevoices.co.uk or call her on 07756 312881.
