Fairfield Farm College Horse & Dog Show went ahead in Dilton Marsh this month in spite of heavy rain in the village.
The show, which was held to raise money for the college’s student council, was held on Saturday 19th July, when thunderstorms were sweeping the county.
However, the weather didn’t dampen everybody’s spirits; organiser Kate de Boorder said, “It was very wet! But we managed and the show did go ahead as planned, and despite the weather we raised over £500 for the college student council.
“We did not have anywhere near the numbers were are used to, but the in-hand classes proved the most popular. There were less entries in the afternoon as the weather turned wetter.”
In addition to the usual showing and jumping competitions, other scheduled categories included horse ‘fancy dress’ and the dogs’ ‘waggiest tail’, as well as a bonus ‘soggiest dog’ show, which Kate said was a highlight of the day.
