WESTBURY’S packed programme of Christmas events has been bringing people out and about over the festive period.
Among the highlights so far have been the Street Events Day which took place on Saturday, with a skating rink, climbing wall, fairground rides and sideshows, and entertainers taking to the streets.
On the day there was also a food and craft market in the grounds of All Saints’ Church, while the church invited people in for the annual Christmas Tree Festival.
Westbury mayor, cllr Christine Mitchell commented on the festivities so far. “I think it’s been amazing, everyone has taken part and enjoyed it,” she said. “Over the last weekend I opened the Christmas tree festival on Friday and was at the Street Day most of the day on Saturday, and I’m now looking forward to the carol service on Friday – there’s just so much going on!”
With just under two weeks until Christmas, there are still plenty of opportunities for festive fun in the area. Highlights coming up include the outdoor carol service at 6.00pm in the Market Place (or All Saints’ Church if wet) this Friday the 17th, with festive favourites led by Bratton Silver Band and the “Sing Alive” group.
The Christmas Tree Festival will continue at All Saints Church this weekend, with Father Christmas popping in on the morning of Saturday 18th. “44U”, part of the Great Western Chorus, will be singing festive songs in the afternoon.
Brokerswood Country Park offer plenty of festive fun with an ice skating rink and Santa train in the run up to Christmas.
