SEVERAL of the primary schools in the area have been placed on or above the national average in a key set of national tests for 11-year-olds.
The data, which is compiled into league tables, was published in December and shows the results achieved by schools in the key stage 2 national curriculum tests in England in 2010. Schools are judged by the percentage of pupils who achieved a pass in the level four examinations in maths and English.
The results are published by the Department for Education. The national average this year was a 73% pass rate and the Wiltshire pass rate was 75%.
Dilton Marsh CofE Primary School scored 88%, Bitham Brook Primary School scored 84% and Westbury Leigh CofE Primary School scored 75%.
Boycott
In 2010 some schools boycotted the SATS, and so no data on Bratton Primary School or Westbury CoE Junior School is available.
Chapmanslade CoE School is also absent from the data, as they have a statistically insignificant number of pupils (less than eleven) sitting the tests.
Carolyn Godfrey, director of children and education at Wiltshire Council said, “I am delighted to note the overall improvement in attainment across Wiltshire in the Level 4+ including both English and maths. This year’s improvement reflects Wiltshire’s best ever results and both the children and all those who have supported them are to be congratulated.”
