Brokerswood Country Park is well versed in conservation, having recently achieved an award marking a decade of consistency in the field.
Since 2001, the park has been assessed annually by judges from the David Bellamy Conservation Award scheme. The judges look at criteria including the way the site manages its land as a haven for wildlife; reduces their use of energy, water and other resources; reduces, re-uses and recycles the waste it produces; and the way in which it supports the local community.
Those parks who meet the criteria are presented with an award, and this year was the 10th year in a row that Brokerswood Country Park, between Yarnbrook and Southwick, has received a gold award from the judges.
Park owner Sue Capon, who runs Brokerswood along with her husband Barry said, “The ethos here at the park has always been one of conservation, and we aim to approach everything we do with an ecological mind.
“The park is part of the ancient forest of Selwood, and we are committed to preserving the woodland and the lake for future generations to enjoy. Gaining the award for the 10th year in a row is testament to the ongoing efforts of our staff.”
