WESTBURY Town Council has agreed to install more anti-incinerator banners around town in a bid to remind residents that the fight against the proposed incinerator isn’t over yet.
It was decided at a meeting of the town council earlier this month to approve the spending of £400 for more anti-incinerator banners.
Speaking at the meeting, cllr Mark Bailey said, “We previously agreed earlier in the year to buy some banners to propose our objection which proved quite popular, and I think they have served their purpose in drawing people’s attention to our position on the incinerator.
“There is still some confusion from the public who feel that this incinerator problem has been dealt with and gone away now, that Wiltshire Council have shown their objections to the plans. This is obviously not the case, and we have a meeting in November that will hopefully put an end to this.
“These new banners will be promoting the fact that this issue has not gone away, and that November is the crunch time.”
The town council will replace the banners at the entrances to the town and outside The Laverton. The fate of the incinerator application will be decided by the government-appointed planning inspector at a special hearing of evidence, which will take place in November.
