The North Bradley Council seat was won by Mike Kettlety for Labour, beating his only opponent decisively, on Thursday 11th August.
Press officer for the South West Wiltshire Labour Party, Tony Free said, “The turnout was a low 10% but high considering that the council did not send out polling cards for this election.
“Mike Kettlety polled 71% of the vote with Francis Morland, an independent candidate, polling only 27%.”
Councillor Kettlety said, “This shows that Jeremy Corbyn is becoming a positive force with voters in our area. I look forward to working for the interests of the people of North Bradley in these difficult times.”
Westbury town councillor and SW Wilts Labour chair, Mike Sutton said, “For some years now voters in our area have not had the opportunity to vote for a Labour candidate.
“With our membership now soaring to record levels this is something we intend to address. We will field candidates in as many wards as possible in all council elections for the foreseeable future. People will at last be given real a choice.”
For the Wiltshire Council elections next May Labour is hoping to field candidates in every ward.
