A developer that won permission to build 54 houses in Dilton Marsh following a planning appeal has returned to Wiltshire Council to get the sign-off on the new estate’s design.
Redcliffe Homes will be building 54 houses on paddocks behind the two-kilometre-long High Street.
Outline planning permission was granted by the Planning Inspectorate in March 2025 after the council refused planning permission in 2024.
But the council still gets a say on matters like the layout of the estate, and how the houses will look.
Redcliffe Homes says it wants to build a mix of one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom houses, with what it calls “a significant amount” of public space, including seating, a trim trail, and a wildflower meadow.
Sixteen of the 54 properties will be designated affordable, including four units reserved for first-time buyers, 10 units for affordable rent, and two for shared equity.
The developer says most of the houses will be detached and two storeys high, to complement the existing houses in the village, but two houses will be 2.5 storeys tall.
The estate will be divided into two distinct areas. Meadow Edge will consist of detached properties, while Cottage Edge will be made up of terraces.
A decision from Wiltshire Council is expected before the end of July.
