SPORT Relief is back next weekend and Westbury will be hosting its third Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile to raise money alongside fund-raisers from across the country.
The Westbury Mile will take place on Sunday 20th March, setting off at Leighton Recreation Centre at 10am.
Manager at the recreation centre Keith Brunsden said, “The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile in Westbury is nearly here and it’s your time to walk or run yourself proud. From little ones with their mums and dads, to runners up against the clock, there’s something for everyone to make themselves feel proud on this special day.”
Local fundraisers are wanted to help do their bit in making a difference to people living across the UK and in the world’s poorest communities.
Setting off from Leighton Recreation Centre, Westbury Mile fundraisers can choose to run or walk one, three or six miles. The course will be entirely within the grounds of Leighton Recreation Centre and therefore no roads to cross, making it safe for all ages to take part in.
Entry costs £7 per adult, £3 per child, or £17 for a family of two adults and two children.
The centre will also be hosting a ‘swimathon’ over the weekend, and challenging individuals or teams to swim as far as they can and raise money for the charity.

Sport Relief will take place from Friday 18th to Sunday 20th March and there are more ways than ever for people to take part. Whether you get sponsored to enter an event at the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games or fundraise with friends and family at home, work or school, you’ll help people living incredibly tough lives.
Half of all the money raised by the public is spent in the UK, with the other half used to make a difference in the world’s poorest communities.
Celebrities are in on the action, as always; Will Young took part in a special bake-off competition, Eddie Izzard running 27 marathons in as many days, and Jo Brand walking 135 miles across the country in one week.
