Funds from this year’s Dilton Dash have been used to donate a lawnmower to maintain the environment at the Dilton Marsh pollen corridor.
The pollen corridor, a pathway for insects and bees to pollinate plants and crops, is now in its second year in the village and continues to develop. The work to maintain it is carried out by residents of the village committed to improving the environment.
Councillor Jenny Jones from Dilton Marsh Parish Council said, “The lawnmower donated by Tracey Hyde at Red Fish Events following the Dilton Dash will help so much. It will allow the team to maintain the areas, provide paths and clearings for residents, young and old, to walk among wildflowers, spend time sitting on the benches, watching bees and insects buzz around.”
“The lawnmower will be a true work horse in the autumn for cutting back the no-mow areas and wildflowers in preparation for our third year. Dilton Marsh pollen corridor is very grateful for the donation of this lawn mower and will ensure it is used wisely to improve our environment.”
The Dilton Marsh pollen corridor is part of a wider pollinator corridor for Westbury and the surrounding villages, which features areas of a mix of wild flowers, cut grassed areas and no-mow zones.
