TALENTED bakers flexed their creative muscles last weekend at the Great Bratton Bake Off! Local people took the opportunity to release their inner Mary Berry and impress judges to claim the top spot.
The event, hosted in the Church Institute in Bratton on 29th January, had three categories: men (winner Al Curtis), ladies (winner Suzanna Ball), and children (winner Ellie Cooper). The entries were judged by Sian Millier, a local distinguished and well known cook herself.
Organisers said, “It is over 20 years since Bratton held such an event, and it was good to see the Institute back in action again after the constraints of the pandemic, with a variety of contributions in the three categories.
“An enjoyable morning was had both by competitors and those who just came along to see the entries and enjoy the refreshments provided.”
The event marked the end of Village Halls week, a national campaign designed to shine a light on the contribution of England’s village halls to the community.
In addition to creating cake masterpieces, the occasion provided an opportunity to donate any unused or unopened toiletries, hygiene products, and household cleaning goods for the Warminster and district foodbank – of which ten bags were collected and delivered.
