A well-known Westbury charity is on the lookout for a new chair as it continues to support hundreds of local people in the face of increasing need.
Crosspoint, which has been serving Westbury and surrounding villages since 2011, is appealing for someone to take on the vital leadership role after current chair Kevin Fairman announced he will be stepping down due to ill health.

“After five years as chair of Crosspoint (Westbury), it is time for someone new to lead the charity in the next stage of its evolution,” said Kevin. “With a healthy level of financial reserves, and a team of 20 volunteers plus 10 counsellors, Crosspoint is well positioned for the future.
“The number of people in the local community seeking help and support continues to grow. We aim to meet that need and do all that we can to help people cope with the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.”
Based in the Market Place, Crosspoint’s Welcome Centre is often the first port of call for residents in need of support – whether it’s help completing benefit forms, using a computer, updating a CV or accessing counselling services. In 2024 alone, the charity welcomed around 850 visitors and provided professional counselling to 80 people, each receiving at least 12 sessions.
Now, as it looks to continue evolving to meet the changing needs of the community, Crosspoint is appealing for a new chair to help shape its future.
“This is a rewarding and important role,” said Kevin. “We’re looking for someone who is passionate about the local community and wants to make a real difference in people’s lives.”
The charity operates with a mission to relieve poverty, sickness and distress in the local area, and is committed to offering its services to all, regardless of background.
In addition to the chair role, Crosspoint is also welcoming expressions of interest from potential new trustees and volunteers.
“We always welcome new volunteers with empathy and good listening skills to meet the increasing demand for our services,” added Kevin.
“All you need is a small amount of time each month, to be a good listener and have patience and empathy when supporting people.”
