TWO Westbury women will be walking along the Great Wall of China next year to raise money for children’s hospice Naomi House.
Alison Bell and Tracey Owen will be trekking part of the thousands of years old structure in May 2017, and are hoping to raise nearly £6,000 in sponsorship.
Naomi House and Jacks-place is a charity that cares for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. Based in Hampshire, it covers Wiltshire, Dorset and handful of other southern counties.
Alison said, “We are two mums living in Westbury with seven children between us and five grandchildren, and are now reaching our 50th years!
“We have seen the good work the charity does and Tracey knows the family of a girl that unfortunately passed away at Naomi House.
“Neither of us have done anything like this before and it will certainly be a challenge! I’ve had some issues with arthritis over the last few years and we’re not getting any younger so we’ll have to improve our fitness and get to love walking hills.
“As part of our training we will be walking the 12 white horses across Wiltshire and Oxfordshire at various times with our collection buckets!
“We’ll also be holding local car washes, cake sales, car boots and a gala evening event later in the year. If you see us walking please stop and give to this wonderful charity or donate directly to our page online at uk.virginmoney giving.com/alisonbell14.”
Alison and Tracey will be posting updates on their training and fundraising on their Facebook page ‘Ali & tracey walk in aid of naomi & jacks place hospice’.
