A talk from a Jane Austen enthusiast is being hosted by Bratton WI to mark the 250th anniversary of the author’s birth.
The event will take place at the WI’s monthly meeting at Bratton Church Institute at 2pm on Tuesday 4th November.
Jenny Colquhoun, a Jane Austen expert and enthusiast, will present the talk titled Pugs and Prejudice. The talk will cover pets during Jane Austen’s time, as well as Austen’s life and books.

Jenny will be assisted by her Maltese dog, Lilli, with the pair dressed in matching Regency outfits, as was the custom in Paris circa 1800.
“We are looking forward to celebrating one of England’s greatest authors in this anniversary year in a light-hearted fashion,” said Chris Crosby, President of Bratton WI.
“Non-members are always welcome to come along and see what we get up to before becoming fully paid-up members. We are a friendly bunch and will give you a warm welcome.”
