THE RAILWAY Inn recently welcomed Suggs from ‘80s ska band Madness, who is the latest of several famous faces to pop up at the pub!
Suggs was travelling from a gig in Minehead when he missed a connection at Westbury Station, and chose to spend his wait at the Station Road pub.
Landlady Teresa Mead said, “He came in and was here for about three hours. He had to get a driver to come and pick him up. He was here chatting to the customers; he was a lovely, friendly guy and had time for everyone.
“We love Madness, that’s our era; who can forget their string of hits from the ‘70s and ‘80s – One Step Beyond, Absolutely, Keep Moving and others.”
Suggs isn’t the first unexpected guest to turn up at the pub recently. Last month Matt Baker, presenter of The One Show, and Iwan Thomas, Olympic silver medalist, stopped in the pub’s car park with the Rickshaw Challenge for an impromptu break. During their visit, the duo were filmed for the BBC, while they also presented a special video for the White Horse News!
Teresa said, “A lady from the crew knocked on the door and said can we use your car park and toilets. Then we looked outside and there was a full TV crew, the presenter from The One Show, and Pudsey Bear as well!”
