A MILKMAN has thanked the local community for raising over £1,500 after his milk float was vandalised.
Michael Bulling, independent dairyman for residents in the villages east of Westbury, was targeted by vandals over Christmas who broke into his yard and stripped his milk float, including the batteries.
As a result, he had to borrow another float to carry on with his rounds until he could afford to carry out the repairs. A fundraiser was set up online to cover the cost of the float repair and to replace the batteries, and the £1,500 target was reached – thanks to generous donations by local people.
Michael said, “I can’t believe the response I got really. I’m not online that much so didn’t really hear about the campaign for a while, but I can’t thank people enough! “It’s great to see that my service is so appreciated by the local community and to all my customers and those that donated, I can’t thank you enough.”
Alongside the donations were a handful of messages from people expressing their gratitude to Michael, with one saying, “We had deliveries from Mr Bulling for many, many years when we lived in Bratton. He was always so cheerful, whatever the weather, and we are happy to help in some small part.”
One donator said, “We do not use Michael, but we felt compelled to give because he is such a nice person and a stalwart of the local community. Hope you get it fixed soon.”
Another added, “Never give up Michael, let’s hope this community gesture restores your faith in humanity.”
