The West Wilts Society of Model Engineers will be holding their sixth annual gala on Saturday 14th September.
Organisers say, “The event is held at the White Horse Country Park in Westbury and will have large scale railway layouts, and model engineering exhibits, including the South West Meccano group, as well as projects from members of various local engineering and railway groups.
“We will also have displays from local boat and plane groups who are bringing models of all sizes. There will also be a traction and stationary engine display with vehicles of all sizes, including a full sized steam road roller which will be in steam.
“Traders from across the country will be visiting to support us this year, along with our local Frome Model Shop, and stands from our local preserved railways. We will have a fairground organ and some vintage vehicles to see, along with our regular 5″ gauge steam train rides on the society’s permanent track. Over the course of this summer we have also been preparing a second ground level track, which will be ready in time and also able to provide train rides for visitors of all ages!
“We are excited this year to also be offering a train simulator experience. Hot and cold refreshments will be available across the site, and a cash prize raffle will also be held to help with our fundraising for the Hope for Tomorrow cancer treatment charity. The event will run from 10am until 4pm, entry is £5 per adult with accompanied children under 16 free.
“The event marks the start of our autumn season, which this year will include our first ever ghost train in October and our popular Santa specials in December.
“Information is also available on our Facebook page – Wiltshire Model Steam Gala.”
