A PUPIL from Westbury Leigh Primary School’s dance club has won a special award for her involvement in the West Wiltshire Dance Festival.
Skye Young was awarded the Chris Bell Award which is an annual award given in recognition of an individual’s commitment and focus towards performing at the West Wiltshire Dance Festival (WWDF) whilst overcoming significant hurdles. The award is named after the first organiser of West Wiltshire School Games, Chris Bell.
The school’s Mr Slater explained, “Last March, following the WWDF back in February 2023, a group of teachers, dance leaders and the WWDF organisers met to review the dance festival and to assess the nominations for the Chris Bell Award. We were very proud that Skye, from the Westbury Leigh Primary School’s dance club was nominated and even more delighted that the group decided that Skye would be the worthy recipient of the award.
“The current games organiser, Mr Widger, visited the school to present Skye with her award and to interview her. This interview will be shown on all three evenings of this year’s Dance Festival. Westbury Leigh Primary School will be performing their dance on Wednesday 7th February and Skye and her parents are invited to attend as VIP guests!
“We are very proud of Skye’s efforts and congratulations to her for being another of Westbury Leigh’s recipient of the Chris Bell Award!’”
