WESTBURY Library is boasting a new-look children’s area, and is encouraging children to make the most of what the library offers.
Sabina Edwards, community librarian said, “New features include a baby book start area and a theme of the month collection, which this month features animal stories and facts.
“The new layout will help guide you and your child to choose the right book to read. Parents should also look out for the parenting collection, with everything from birth to teens. The ‘Talk it Over’ collection is designed to help young children understand new experiences such as going to pre-school, family separations, visiting the dentist, etc. Books to encourage the dyslexic reader are also available, as well as stories and rhymes on spoken word CDs.
“Free rhyme time sessions for children aged three years and under and their parents/carers are held every Friday at 11.00am. These are friendly and fun sessions which encourage the early development of language and social skills.
“Join us for a special children’s story time event to celebrate World Book Day on Thursday 7th March at 3.30pm. Children, come dressed as your favourite book character!
“It is free for adults and children to join the library and it is free to borrow books. The library also holds a large selection of DVDs which can be hired for a week for a small charge. You can hire three DVDs for the price of two on Fridays and a special promotion has extended this offer to include Thursdays until Easter. So, start the weekends early by stocking up on DVDs for all members of the family as well as all your reading needs.”
