People in the Westbury area who may need help and support will benefit from extended opening hours at local charity, Crosspoint.
Due to an increase in demand and more volunteers coming forward, Crosspoint is going to be open for even more drop-in sessions for people in need of support and information in the town and surrounding villages.
In addition to the four days a week already offered, Crosspoint will be open on a Friday afternoon from Friday 11th October.
“Our sessions have proved to be very helpful to the local community and we’ve been asked whether we could add a further day” said Len Clift, the Chair of Crosspoint. “With the help of our team of volunteers we are going to be trialling, from October onwards, opening our doors on this extra afternoon in addition to the existing sessions.”
Crosspoint has found that local people may need information and support about a range of issues including: access to online government services, help with form filling and applying for jobs, debt advice, acting as the Westbury food bank, counselling, or simply providing an opportunity to talk to a volunteer who will listen in confidence.
“We’ve found that the need for our services is as great as ever” stated Kevin Fairman, new Trustee, “and are pleased to be able to provide whatever support we can to local people.”
These increased opening hours will also mean more access to the community fridge provided by Westbury Town Council. The contents of the fridge are donated by the local supermarkets and are available to anybody living in Westbury.
