LOCAL MP Andrew Murrison has returned from his second visit to Ukraine since he was appointed minister for defence personnel in October.
He spoke at a conference for Ukraine veterans in Kyiv and met with his Ukrainian opposite number following up on her visit to London earlier this year.
The UK is assisting Ukraine with aspects of medical support and rehabilitation which, as a former military medic, Andrew is familiar with. He visited the town of Bucha outside Kyiv where advancing Russians have been accused of the mass murder of civilians, including children and elderly, before they were forced back by the Ukrainian army.
After his return home to Wiltshire Andrew said, “Ukraine must prevail and this country must continue to lead others in standing up for what is right. I’m delighted that Wiltshire’s training areas and significant numbers of local people, uniformed and civilian, are involved in training Ukrainian troops. That’s something to be proud of.”
