THE local community support centre, Crosspoint, is set to offer a new professional service that will offer advice and support for those experiencing financial difficulty.
The Community Money Advice (CMA) connect centre will provide help and support for those living in Westbury and the surrounding areas. CMA is a national charity committed to supporting groups who have a passion to help people overcome their money problems. Crosspoint will be a local centre working in partnership with the central CMA operation to provide debt advice.
A spokesperson from Crosspoint says, “The cost-of-living crisis is clearly affecting an increasing number of people in our local community. More people are experiencing financial difficulties and could benefit from a local service to provide professional help and support.
“In the next couple of months, we will have a number of our volunteers trained as ‘money mentors’ and then plan to be up and running with this service from February 2023. Further details will follow on how to access this debt counselling service.
“We would like to say a very big thank you to our friends at Pinniger Finch who have access to charitable funds and have kindly agreed to contribute 50% to this important work for the local community. The other 50% funding will come from Crosspoint’s own charity reserves.
“We will also be working with Wiltshire & Swindon Credit Union, Wiltshire Citizens Advice and others with experience of these matters in and around Westbury.”
