A brand-new festival is coming to Frome next month, focused on reconnection, nature and our place in the world.
‘Consider the Wondrous’ is a collaboration between Tina Gaisford-Waller of Winstone’s Hunting Raven Books in Frome and Gareth Howell-Jones who is the official bookseller at Hay Festival.
Also an author, Gareth visited Frome last year for a book event and was captivated by the town’s vibrancy and unique character.
“This is a brand new festival – 16 events over two days – with the best names in nature and environmental writing and thought discussing a range of topics of interest to so many – nature and mental health, rewilding, how to gets kids excited about nature, the Amazon rainforest, nature and creativity as well as trees, birds and animals,” said Gareth.
The full programme can be found online at considerthewondrous.com and features authors such as Cal Flyn, Horatio Clare, Stephen Moss, Dara McAnulty, Michael Malay and more as well as local favourites Julian Hight, Ian Ballamy, and the actor and ecologist David Oakes.
“The festival itself has been growing in my mind for some years, but I was looking for the perfect location to make it happen,” added Gareth. “As soon as I came to Frome, I just knew it had to be here.”
Tina from Hunting Raven said, “I am so thrilled that Consider the Wondrous is happening here. Gareth and I have had so much fun pulling together the most wonderful programme of events with some remarkable authors.”
Consider the Wondrous will take place at RISE on Whittox Lane across the weekend of the 19th & 20th September. Tickets can be purchased online – simply search for ‘Consider the Wondrous Ticket Source’ or book through the website considerthewondrous.com. You can also book tickets at Winstone’s Hunting Raven Books on Cheap Street, Frome. However you book, there are no booking fees to pay.
“We encourage people to book early to avoid disappointment as many events are already selling fast,” added Tina.
