WESTBURY’S RAF Air Cadet Squadron is looking for new cadets and on offer is a wide range of exciting activities including flying and gliding opportunities, flight simulator training, first aid training radio skills.
“We are actively recruiting for a new intake of cadets to join the unit,” says Alan Smith, warrant officer, officer in charge of the 68 (Westbury) Sqn.
“We offer a wide range of activities within our broad training syllabus that supports Cadet BTEC qualifications, flight simulator training, first aid qualifications, map reading and radio skills, Duke of Edinburgh Scheme, flying and gliding opportunities, leadership training, and many others.
“The eligibility requirement for new recruits is that you must be between 12-17 years old, and in year 8 or above at school.
“We meet on Wednesday and Friday evenings from 19-00 to 21-30hrs; at the Cadet Centre, West End Westbury.
“In addition, we would welcome new staff to join as civilian instructors, or those who would like to go into uniform roles with either Officer’s Commission, or as a Senior NCO.
“The Squadron committee are also looking for new members to join. This is open to all adults and is not restricted to parents/ guardians of cadets. Their role is to assist the small team that are already fundraising for all sorts of assistance that will benefit our cadets.
