Westbury PCC update…

Westbury PCC Meeting Monday 11th May 7pm

The Westbury PCC will be holding a short meeting via Zoom on Monday 11 May.  Members will receive an invitation and the papers before the meeting.

If there is anything that you would like them to discuss please contact Revd Rebecca Harris in advance of the meeting.

Westbury PCC Annual Parochial Church meeting 2020

This year’s APCM was meant to be held on Sunday 26 April. This the meeting where we elect churchwardens and PCC members and receive the annual report and accounts.

We were unable to hold it then because of the restriction on public meetings. There is a revised date by which the Annual meeting should be held, which has been postponed to the end of October. We have therefore set a date of Sunday 18 October at 10.30 am. We hope we shall be able to hold it then. A public notice of the meeting will be displayed nearer the time.

Westbury PCC Message from the Treasurer

The closing of our churches is having a very damaging effect on our finances. Our giving in March and April is £4,099 down on the same period last year. Many thanks to those people who have sent cheques or created standing orders to pay their offering into our bank directly.

If you normally make your regular offering in cash each week, please consider sending us a cheque to the Team Office or setting up a standing order.  Although our outgoings are reduced a little, we still have to pay our Parish Share which pays for our 3 full time clergy, insurance and our utilities. We finished 2019 more than £13,000 ‘in the red’ and we will have less opportunities for fundraising this year. We need your support more than ever.

You can find out how you can support us here.

News from Dilton Marsh…

The Roads to God prayer team are not able to offer the undertake all aspects of this important mission in the community of Dilton Marsh due to the Coronavirus situation. However there work does continue when it is needed more than ever.

Between 10th May and 13th June we will be praying for all those living and working in Orchard Close, The Avenue and The Crescent in Dilton Marsh.

An update from the Vicarage Garden..

Caroline sent us this update from the Vicarage Garden – a work in progress….
“Flossie loves the Patio area, often lying there in the evening sun with her toys. If you look closely under the hazel on the right there is the Celtic cross. I’ll take a photo of it next week!”

Daily Hope offers music, prayers and reflections as well as full worship services from the Church of England at the end of a telephone line.  Read more…

VE Day Friday 8 May

There were lots of plans for celebrations of the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day on Friday 8 May with a special bank holiday to allow us to enjoy the celebrations on the actual anniversary. Sadly the celebrations will be more subdued.
Wiltshire Council have produced a special pack that you can download with ways to have your own (socially distanced!) celebration at home.  You can download the pack here.

How will you celebrate VE Day 75? – why not share your photos with us for the next edition of the newsletter?!

Thy Kingdom Come 2020

Find out how you can join in with the global prayer movement, Thy Kingdom Come 2020. Read more.

Stewardship

“On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income.”
Corinthians 16:2

The church may be closed but we will still need to pay our Parish Share, utilities and insurance expenses as well as other unavoidable costs.

Our Parish Share helps to support our three full time clergy who are busy supporting us at this difficult time as well as a number of other functions in the Diocese.  As we explained in the February Newsletter there is a shortfall between our regular giving and our expenses. The Current restrictions means that many of our usual fundraising activities will be curtailed. Your support has never been so important.
Please continue to make your offering as usual.
If you usually make a weekly offering in cash please consider setting up a standing order with the bank while our services are suspended. This is the most efficient way to donate.

Alternatively, a cheque can be sent to the Parish Office Church Lane Westbury BA13 3BT.
Make sure you have signed a Gift Aid form too. That way we get maximum support for your donation.
Please follow this link to download the forms. which are available for both Dilton and Westbury PCCs

Or contact Beth Thomas, Treasurer wcw@whtministry.org.uk 07790 870 247 for Westbury PCC and Chris Hill, Treasurer. cprh@divingdog.co.uk Dilton Marsh PCC for Holy Trinity and Brokerswood

Thank you for your continued support.
