FAIRFIELD Farm College, a specialist college for students with learning disabilities in Dilton Marsh, look back on 2019.
The college offers flexible residential, day and weekend courses to help prepare young adults for living and working in the community. In late 2018, Hope Nature Centre based in Southwick Country Park also joined the Fairfield Farm Trust.
“It’s been a very busy year at Fairfield Farm College, with the biggest ever intake of students, surpassing the 100 mark” stated the college. “Our on-site Farm Shop, Café and Animal Walk all give students the opportunity to learn and experience customers first-hand, all of which are vital work experience, so it’s great to see so many local people using our facilities.
“The college has had some fantastic fundraising events this year, and we would like to thank everyone for their continued support. Some of this year’s highlights include the Wylye Valley Arts trail, our Country Fayre and Christmas Fair, all of which raised funds for our indoor sports and riding facility, which will soon hopefully offer another fantastic community facility.
“Students have supported a range of projects this year, including community support at Westbury Court Care Home, helping to look after parks in Warminster and providing support at events such as the Rainbow Shower, Santa Dash and Stepped into Sport. These sporting events are vital, bringing children from special schools across the county together for inclusive fun.”
Hope Nature Centre, which joined the Fairfield Farm Trust late last year reports, “a whole range of new and exciting events were hosted in 2019, including: Easter, Summer ‘Fun Days’ and Halloween, as well as the Christmas Market and Santa Train. There are still lots of exciting things happening in January and February, including a Burns Night dinner, Feb Half Term Fun Days and much more.”
“We would also like to thank everyone for their continued support of Hope Nature Centre, as the local community really help us thrive. There have been various successful fundraising events in 2019, including a 12-hour spin from StudioBelle that raised over £6,000.”
