A woman who lives on Primmers Place is calling on her neighbours to be considerate when parking on the road.
Kirsty Biggs says the problem with parking on the estate is getting worse and it is down to drivers’ stupidity when parking their cars.
Kirsty said, “I’m fed up with this issue now and so are a lot of people. People are parking dangerously along the road and it’s a nightmare. It’s only a matter of time before a serious accident happens. Children regularly play nearby and it’s not safe because drivers cannot clearly see what is coming up and down the road.
“I understand that parking is an issue because most households have more than one car and they may not have enough space on their drive, but when they do park on the road, they do it without thinking about anyone else.
“It is a nightmare on the road sometimes. The bin lorries can’t get through and on a number of occasions they have had to miss our bin collection. But my main concern is that if there was a fire, would a fire engine be able to get down the road and more often than not no, they wouldn’t be able to.
“I’m appealing to people who double park, park on corners and just generally park stupidly, to think about how they would feel if their family member needed the emergency services but they couldn’t get to them because of how someone has parked their car. Stop and think, ‘Is how I’m leaving my car going to affect anyone else?’ because if it is, then don’t park there.
“I have spoken to the town council and they are going to put it on the agenda as a public issue at a council meeting – this cannot go on, it needs sorting.”
