Proposals for up to 300 new homes on land near Station Road will go on display at a public exhibition this month.
The plans, created by London-based housing developers Square Bay, could see a new housing estate built on a 55-acre stretch of land beside the town’s sailing lake.
A public exhibition will be held at The Laverton on Thursday 24th September from 3pm to 7pm. Members of the public are invited to view the plans and speak to members of the design team ahead of a planning application being submitted.
Square Bay, who bought the land in March this year, will propose to build 300 new houses including affordable homes. A new road bridge over the Westbury Avoiding Line will also be included, linking the site to Mane Way in accordance with Wiltshire Council’s Core Strategy requirements.
In addition, the plans will also see the improvement and management of woodland around the sailing lake, as well as assisting Westbury Sailing Club to develop new and improved facilities.
The site, which was identified for housing and a new road as site H14 in the West Wilts Local Plan and is now allocated in Wiltshire’s Core Strategy, lies to the south of Westbury Railway Station.
Tom Vaughan-Jones, from developers Square Bay said, “We are very pleased to be bringing forward a planning application for this site, which is allocated for new homes, as well as an important new road connection for this part of Westbury. We look forward to meeting with the community to hear their priorities for the site and the wider area.”
