Beth Thomas, churchwarden and chair of the steering group, and Graham Stevensen, a member of the steering group and retired architect, updated the meeting on progress so far and the latest plans. These include a relocated kitchen and toilets and the insertion of a second floor to increase the amount of space and flexibility of the hall. This will enable a wider range of uses by the growing community of Westbury. After the presentation, there was an opportunity to look at the plans in detail, ask questions and make comments.
Beth Thomas said, “It was a really positive meeting, with those attending impressed by the amount of work that has already been done. The plans are still not finalised as we are continuing to consult existing and potential users.
“We have a big fundraising target to meet, with the current plans costing in excess of £500,000. The building is very much in need of modernisation after nearly 150 years, but we are confident that our plans will enable the hall to serve the community of Westbury for another 150 years.”
The plans will remain on display in the church until Saturday 20th November. The steering group welcome the people of Westbury to take a look and add their comments. All Saints is open every day from 9am to dusk.
