Speed enforcement officers from Wiltshire Police have recently monitored traffic in Edington, where vehicles were recorded travelling at up to 45mph in a 30mph zone.
The force’s road safety team carried out speed checks earlier this month by the telephone exchange on Westbury Road, a main road through the village.
A total of 34 drivers were issued with notices of intended prosecution for excessive speeding.
On the stretch monitored, which has a 30mph speed limit, vehicles were clocked travelling at 43mph and 45mph.
Wiltshire Police said, “Proceedings will now be undertaken to ensure the most appropriate outcome for the offenders, such as a speed awareness course or a £100 fine and three penalty points.
“Captured footage will also be analysed for other offences, including seat belt and mobile phone use, and checks will be carried out for valid MOT and insurance.
“Let’s stay safe and stick to the limits!”
