WESTBURY’S All Saints Church is making inroads on essential repair works following its receipt of a £24,000 cultural recovery fund grant.
A church spokesperson said, “So far we have started talking to builders about repairs on the roof and refreshing the downpipes which have needed attention for some time.
“We are talking to a designer about some new information boards for visitors and starting to design some new external noticeboards.
“We are planning a tidy up in the church in June ready for reopening in July. We welcome any offers of help or to join our working group.”
As previously reported in White Horse News the money was awarded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Historic England and the British Film Institute and Arts Council England from a £400 million pot which was held back last year to ensure the fund could continue to help organisations in need as the public health picture changed.
The church has also published the following diary dates:
• Saturday 5th June (time TBC): work with the Wiltshire Medieval Graffiti Survey to discover the hidden marks in the walls of All Saints’ Church and the stories they tell.
• Saturday 19th June, 10am to 4pm, and Tuesday 22 June 10am to 1pm: a chance to join in with a spring clean for All Saints.
• Saturday 3 July: summer event – “celebrate the completion of our work funded by the Cultural Recovery Fund Grant with tower tours, home baking and more!”
