FRIENDS of Victoria Garden (FVG) welcomed West Country band, Dr Zebo’s Wheezy Club, for a fundraising event on Saturday 22nd July.
The gig was held indoors at All Saints’ Parish Hall due to the wet weather and the event organisers had decorated the hall with bunting, flowers and foliage to create more of the atmosphere of Victoria Garden.
“We were really pleased to have nearly 50 people attend despite the rain,” said FVG secretary, Margaret Saunders. “The band gave a great performance of their mix of ‘folky, jazzy, acoustic swing’ with young and old members of the audience joining in with the beat!
“We are so grateful to the Westbury Lions and Westbury Festival for again supporting us in hosting Dr Zebo’s Wheezy Club. This is the second year they have played for us and we would love to make it an annual fixture – hopefully next year back in Victoria Garden!”
Over £400 was raised on the day. All proceeds raised from the event will go towards the work of the community group which maintains Victoria Garden, also known as ‘The Secret Garden’, off All Saints’ churchyard in the centre of Westbury.
