AFTER a strong away win the week before, United travelled to Bristol side Roman Glass St George on what was a very wet Saturday afternoon.
James Goddard opted for a tried and trusted formation of 3-5-2 and this seemed to work straight off the mark as after only 90 seconds, the ball was played through to George Bendle who flicked it around the defence and onto a sprinting Martin Johnson who struck it into the corner of the goal with ease. Westbury then went on to play some nice football. Twenty minutes later, the ball seemed to have crossed the goal line again for United by George Bendle who stroked it in but it was disallowed.
Roman Glass St George had a clear chance cleared of the line by one of their own players, much to Westbury’s relief. Soon after, Westbury lost Martin Johnson through injury and on came Otis Young to replace him.
Westbury came out to a very foggy and misty night in the second half – the linesmen both let the referee know visibility was an issue and it soon became a problem for both teams as the ball was lost in the air quite a bit.
Westbury felt they should of had a penalty awarded in the last twenty minutes but a free kick was given which was put wide. From the goal kick, Roman Glass attacked, threw in a cross and a header was looped over goalkeeper Charlie Haydon. The game finished 1-1 but Westbury felt frustrated with the draw.
