CHILDREN at Dilton Marsh Primary School recently had a visit from ‘a survivor of Pompeii – Great Bear Artorius’
Children enjoyed a storytelling session, and helped Great Bear Artorius re-enact his tales. As well as finding out more about the dramatic eruption of Vesuvius, they also learnt more about the Roman lifestyle in Pompeii.
One pupil said, “I love acting, so doing the re-enactment of rowing to the foot of the Bay of Naples and those fleeing Vesuvius, was so much fun!… In my head I actually pictured us going through the big, grey ash cloud because [he was] such a good story teller.”
Another said, “It was so much fun. I particularly liked the bit when I dressed up in the helmet and held the sword! I was so excited at pretending to be a gladiator.”
