ROSE’S Gardening Services in Westbury is looking for friendly and trustworthy people to join their successful award-winning family business. If you love being outdoors and have a passion for gardening, this could be the job for you!
An ever-growing demand has left Rose’s Gardening Services looking for more people to join the business. Working self-employed, you will have the freedom to build up your own client base around areas such as Westbury, Warminster Frome, Trowbridge, Bradford-on-Avon, Melksham and all the surrounding villages, depending on the area in which you live.
You run your own diary and attend your own jobs, fitting around your own schedule. The gardeners work in a variety of locations from courtyards to domestic gardens, both small and large. They ensure that each gardener is matched with their skill level, to the garden and the client. You work independently on jobs but can also be paired with other gardeners on larger jobs so adaptability is desirable.
Rose’s welcome you to use your own equipment if you have it, but are on hand to help out if there are items you do not have. Alternatively, if your equipment goes wrong and needs repair you can use items provided instead of waiting for repairs.
Rose’s Gardening Services pride themselves on being a Trading Standards approved – Buy With Confidence – company and also work with a small number of care homes, letting agents and landlords. They have also been awarded the Chamber of Commerce Service Excellence award, recognised for their consistent delivery of exceptional levels of service.
Owner of Rose’s Gardening Services, Ellen Rose said, “There is always plenty of work available for our gardeners, ranging from small jobs to larger ones, depending on what you would like to take on. There are different jobs for different abilities.
“The job is very flexible. It’s ideal for someone looking to boost their income, work around existing commitments or a parent looking to work around childcare. The flexibility to arrange your own appointments and schedules would really appeal to mums looking to get back to work during school hours.
“We are looking for people with great customer service skills, who are good communicators with the clients and also myself. There is a caring and listening element involved as you are making a difference to people’s lives. Sometimes, the customer is vulnerable or elderly and want a safe caring, compassionate person to help them maintain their garden. A lot of our customers are those who can’t manage their gardens due to a variety of circumstances or have very busy lives. It is reassuring for them to know their garden is still being looked after so they can continue to enjoy it.
“A garden can be very important to some people and when you cannot maintain it yourself, it can get frustrating so kind workers are welcomed.
“Plant knowledge is desirable but not essential. We try and match the right gardener with the right garden and their owner. You can learn a lot on the job and pick up tips from other gardeners and clients to help you along the way.
“We have recently invested in rechargeable mowers, which are lighter for our lady gardeners to assist them with their work. They are perfect for little lawns!”
Gary Couzens, who has worked for Rose’s Gardening Services for a year said, “The best part of this job is meeting the customers. You get to build a really good rapport with them. It’s important to really enjoy the job, as I do, and there aren’t many places you can get good exercise as well as working. Plus, getting outside and breathing in the fresh countryside air does wonders in the morning!
“It doesn’t matter what level gardener you are – there is always something for everyone. There are people that will always come alongside you and you can learn from them, giving you hints and tips. You can even learn a lot from the clients themselves.”
Diane Townsend, who has been at Rose’s for over three years said, “I used to be a legal secretary before this job but wanted to do something completely different. It has allowed me to use my own gardening skills, learned through my parents and owning my own garden, to help people who also love gardening but can no longer do it themselves. It’s a great job and you never stop learning.
“I am matched perfectly by Ellen to my clients. If you have the ability to only mow lawns, then you are given those jobs. However, If you would like more skilled work such as planting, heavy-duty work, then you can be given those jobs too. There is such a variety in all the jobs I am given.”
Ellen continued, “All of our gardeners must have their own transport which they are willing to use to transport their tools and lawn mower to jobs. all of the gardeners must also be DBS checked.
