BRATTON Primary School welcomed Olympic skeleton and bobsleigh coach, Danny Holdcroft, to celebrate Sport Relief Week.
Bratton School said, “Danny Holdcroft, who is also a parent at the school, led an assembly on the power, purpose and impact of sport. He recounted his personal experiences of playing sport and what that gave him in terms of confidence, friendships and developing his resilience, linking this into our whole school growth mindset ethos, going on to explore with the children the ethos and spirit behind the formation of the Olympics.
“He also talked about his career in sport, managing and coaching, in his capacity as head of performance for the Great Britain skeleton and bobsleigh team.
“The children were fascinated by the skeleton sled that he brought with him, learning how this is made, how the athletes travel down the runs, how they steer and brake, as well as how fast they go!
“A special treat was the fact that all the children got to see and handle Danny’s collection of real Olympic medals. We are very grateful to him for giving us this time and the children got a great deal out of the assembly. A fantastic lead in to Sport Relief Week!”
