WESTBURY recently hosted a St. George’s Day parade for hundreds of members of the Scouts from across West Wiltshire.
The annual county parade took place in Westbury town centre on Sunday 23rd April, and was hailed a great success by its organiser.
Children aged six to 18, from all levels of the Scouting Association in West Wiltshire, took part in the parade led by Salisbury City Band of the Royal British Legion, before attending a special service at All Saints Church.
Assistant Beaver Scout leader for Westbury, Diane Perret said, “It was a really successful day and we had about 300 people take part in the parade; the church was absolutely packed for the service.
“The children had an hour-long service from local historian Tony Coutts-Britton, then had a ‘scrapheap challenge’ activity and made biscuits afterwards.
“We’d like to thank Hire Standards for letting us use their road closure signs for the parade – it was very much appreciated.”
The parade was held as the association this year celebrates 30 years of Beaver Scouts and 100 years of Cub Scouts.
