CHILDREN at Westbury Junior School were recently treated to a special visit from children’s author, Jack Meggitt-Phillips, on Friday 4th November, much to the delight of students.
The entire school took part in a creative writing session which included puppetry, a Q&A session and a live reading from Jack’s book, The Beast & the Bethany: Battle of the Beast.
Jack ran an interactive workshop with the children on the day and he walked through the writing and planning process involved, with the children coming away with their own personalised story.
Speaking on the school visit, Jack said, “The beast and I thoroughly enjoyed eating I mean, MEETING, the children of Westbury. I love running creative writing sessions with children, and seeing all the wonderful, and often terrifying tales that spill out of their imaginations. Their stories were worryingly good, and will linger in my nightmares for several weeks!”
English subject leader at Westbury Junior School, Rebecca Young said, “We haven’t had an author visit the school since before Covid and it has reminded us how inspirational these experiences and visits are. All the children enjoyed this special assembly and it has sparked a new set of fans for Jack Meggitt-Phillips!”
