WESTBURY Rugby Club held its second 10s tournament over the Bank Holiday weekend welcoming men’s and women’s teams from across the area.
Organisers put on a spread of rugby tournaments, stalls, food and live entertainment as the club welcomed visitors under the iconic White Horse to celebrate the sport.
Saturday 25th May saw men’s teams from across the South West including Westbury RFC, The Heat is Off, Drunken Donuts, Old Bath Edwardians and two teams from Bath Rugby League compete for the top spot.
Drunken Donuts walked away victorious securing first place and winning the Hills Shield and £100 prize money. Bath Rugby League Blues narrow missing out, coming in as runners-up.
Sunday 26th May welcomed the women’s teams of Westbury Ladies, Bridgwater and Albion Ladies and the Swifts who all played each other twice for a thrilling competition. Even mixing up the teams for the final match.
Swifts walked away with the Hills Shield and prize money.
The players of the tournament were also selected as Tom O’Brien from Bath Old Edwardians and Kira Hill from Bridgwater and Albion.
The evenings were full of live music and performances including Lazarus, Cley Hill Stompers, Stoned F and Trinity Live Band who created the party atmosphere for a full weekend of entertainment.
There was also a performance from Westbury dance group, Infinity Dance, on Sunday.
