WESTBURY Town Council has appointed six co-opted councillors, filling most of the vacancies left following the election in April.
With only eight people putting themselves forward for the 15 places available, the town council election was cancelled and the eight candidates automatically elected.
The town council was able to legally perform its duties with the eight councillors, but decided to advertise last month for people to fill the vacancies left.
The co-opted councillors were appointed at the town council meeting last week.
The co-opted councillors are pictured (back row) Nicholas Pyne for the West ward and Chris Charlton for the North ward; (front row) Sally Hendry for the East ward, Ward Jones for the North ward and Aminiasi Katonivualiku for the North ward
Also co-opted was Brenda Pyne for the East ward.
