Van dealership raises hundreds in charity quiz night

A WESTBURY van dealership  donated over £400 to local charities recently after raising the money at a quiz night for its staff.

Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealer group, Rygor, recently raised £411 at its charity quiz night, in aid of Dorothy House Hospice Care, Bath Cats & Dogs Home and James Hopkins Trust.

The event, which took place on Friday 20th January at the White Horse Country Park in Westbury, brought together Rygor team members, along with their family and friends for an evening of quizzing and dinner.

Tim Stacey, Rygor managing director said, “We are delighted that the quiz night raised more than 5% of this year’s fundraising target in one evening. Not only was it great to be able to raise money for charities which are close to the heart of our business and our team, it was also brilliant to be able to get together, as a team, for an evening out.”

Rygor’s ‘Charities of the Year’ initiative was set up to enable the company’s team members to nominate and vote to support charities which benefit some of the local communities which the company calls home.

James Hopkins Trust is located just a stone’s throw from the site of Rygor’s new, flagship branch in Gloucester, Dorothy House Hospice Care and Bath Cats and Dogs Home, both BANES, Wiltshire and Somerset-based, are local to the company’s headquarters in Westbury.

Rygor aims to raise at least £6,000 for its three charities for 2016-17 and the total raised on the night will go a long way to help them achieve this target.

The winning team on the night was made up of sales administrator Billy Pearce, technician Mike Geldard, workshop controller Andy Elkins and their friends and family, with a score of 85 out of 110.

Zena Jones, senior fundraiser at Bath Cats and Dogs Home said, “With the cold weather really setting in now, the money raised from the quiz will help keep our animals warm and safe over the next few weeks, powering heat lamps in the kennels and cat pods and providing special vet bedding that’s extra warm and toasty. Thanks to all involved and well done to the winning team!”

Sarah James, head of fundraising at James Hopkins Trust said, “We are incredibly grateful to the Rygor team, who come up with fun ways to raise money. They really are making a huge difference to our ability to provide free nursing respite care to Gloucestershire’s young children who are life limited and life threatened.”

Henrietta Beard, corporate and major donor fundraiser at Dorothy House Hospice Care said, “The continued support of such a dynamic – and clearly knowledgeable team at Rygor, will help boost much needed funds for our charity. We are extremely grateful for their hard work. 2017 has begun extremely well for Dorothy House with not only the fantastic fundraising efforts of the Rygor team, but also a rating of ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC for the care the hospice provides. Thank you Rygor, your money raised will be spent wisely.”
