Saturday 10th June promises to be a fun day in Chapmanslade, when residents and visitors will be invited to join a Monsters and Dinosaurs Explorer Trail.
The event is being organised as part of the Village Voice initiative, which aims to make our lovely village an even better place to live and takes place between 10am and 4.30pm.
For £4, families can purchase an Explorer Pack, which includes entry into a free prize draw for every completed Explorer form. There are two trails, a 2km long pushchair and dog friendly village street walk and a 3km long dog friendly walk through streets, woods and countryside. Both trails start and finish at the Village Hall, where there will be Explorer Activities, a monster raffle, drinks and refreshments and a lot more. Hungry dinosaur hunters can book a meal at our friendly village pub, The Three Horseshoes, which will be serving a special yummy Explorer themed lunch.
Everyone is being invited to make a monster or a dinosaur for the event (a minimum of 750mm high) which will be shown on the day at one of the stops along the trail. There is a prize for the best one, chosen by people on the trail.
The Explorer Trail day aims to raise funds for Chapmanslade CE (VA) Primary School’s PTFA, St Philip and St James’ Church and the Village Voice. Local businesses have given amazing support donating a large number of raffle prizes, with the top prize being £150 cash. The event is being sponsored by Chapmanslade businesses H2o Plumbing & Heating and aba Architectural Design and by Melksham company Superior Creative Services.
Charlene Ridler, one of the organisers of the event and mum to two young children, says “There’s a great community spirit here in Chapmanslade and we are a planning an event which we know will be popular with many families. We are all looking forward to a fun day which everyone, young and old, can enjoy, at the same time helping to raise funds for our school, our church and the Village Voice initiative.”
