Westbury entertained Gloucester-Wingate hoping to build on their fine win against local rivals Warminster last week.
Westbury made one change from last week with the returning David Wade coming in for Tom Lucas. Westbury won the toss on a very cold and wet afternoon and had no hesitation in inserting Gloucester-Wingate. As the players were about to start the game, the heavens opened and the players were brought off. The game eventually started at 4pm with a twenty six over match. Westbury opened with Carroll and Rose. When the total reached 6 Westbury struck twice when Carroll dismissed Hemmings (2) and Whiting (0).
The opener Cowles was then joined by Montgomery the Gloucester-Wingate wicket-keeper and they took the total to 40 when again Westbury struck twice. Collinson and Harrington took the total to 71 when Collinson was out for 18, shortly afterwards Harrington was out for 15. Westbury restricted Gloucester-Wingate to 98-9 off their allotted 26 overs. At the end of the innings Alex Senneck (3-20 off 5 overs) had the best figures. When Westbury batted after two balls bowled in their innings the umpires took the players off the field stating that the conditions were too bad to continue. This did not go down well with the home team who thought the conditions were the same as when the game started. This decision caused a lot of upset with the home side who thought they were denied a chance to win the game.
