Westbury family take on 96-mile challenge in memory of toddler

A team of family members of a young Westbury boy who died aged just 20 months has completed the 96-mile West Highland Way to raise money for charity in his memory. 

The team completed the walk from Milngavie to Fort William in eight days in memory of Connor Street, who died in January 2024. The money raised will support Wiltshire Treehouse, a charity that has helped Connor’s brother and sister following his death.

“He was the happiest, cheekiest little boy with the most infectious smile,” said Connor’s mum Emma. “He loved nothing more than being outside, exploring, laughing and playing with his big brother Harry, his sister Charlotte and all his cousins. Although his time with us was far too short, the love he brought to our family will stay with us forever.”

The team of 18 ranged in age from 3 to 69 and included members of the Westbury Lions, who took part to support Connor’s grandad and Lion Geoff Curtis.

“We are incredibly lucky to be surrounded by the most amazing family,” said Emma. “From the moment we lost Connor, they carried us through the darkest days with their love, strength and unwavering support. The fact that 18 of us, spanning three generations, are taking on this challenge together reflects the love they all have for Connor.”

Emma said the support provided by Wiltshire Treehouse had made a huge difference to Connor’s siblings.

“Their bereavement counselling and support sessions have helped them navigate the unimaginable and shown them they are not alone,” she said. “We hope that, through your support, more children and families can receive that same care when they need it most.

“Every mile walked was for Connor. Every donation will help another child find support, hope and understanding during the most difficult time of their life. If you can support the team, no matter how big or small the donation, it will make a real difference.
