WESTBURY Festival starts in just two weeks and this year will have something for everyone as it boasts its biggest and most exciting lineup yet.
‘Antiques Roadshow’, a brewery tour, lunchtime concerts, Star Wars crafts, and all kinds of exhibitions, shows and workshops are lined up for the ninth year of the town’s own festival when it kicks off on Friday 23rd September. There are over 40 events to choose from this time around, and the organisers are hoping more people than ever will snap up tickets.
“Preparations are going brilliantly and we’ve tried really hard to make sure we have something for everyone this year; we’re very much looking forward to the festival,” chairman Ian Cunningham said last week.
“A lot of hard work goes into the festival but it pays off. When you look at what we have compared to other towns, I think we’re definitely punching above our weight. That’s thanks to our brilliant volunteers, sponsors and donors.
“We’re seeing more and more people getting involved every year and this time I think we’ve got events to appeal to people of all ages, and a good mix of old favourites and new things; around half of the programme is brand new.
“I encourage everyone to come along and see what’s happening. Even if you’re not sure whether something’s for you, give it a try! This is not an exclusive, expensive arts festival; it’s a fun couple of weeks put on for everyone in Westbury and we’d love to see you there.”
There is a huge range of events at this year’s festival including live poetry, rock, opera, jazz, folk, talks on history, gardening and the history of gardening, free short concerts every weekday lunchtime, children’s activities and much more.
Highlights include a tour of Westbury’s Twisted Brewing Co, antique valuations with presenters of the BBC’s ‘Antiques Roadshow,’ and a Star Wars-themed children’s craft session.
