LOCAL businesses and residents had a perfect reason to get together for coffee and cake recently, as they joined people across the country for Macmillan’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’.
Coffee mornings took place around Westbury, rasing hundreds of pounds for the charity.
At Fairwood Lakes Holiday Park, manager Sasha Bryant said, “The coffee morning has been a huge success and everyone is loving the cakes and raising lots of money for Macmillan! It’s so lovely to have so many mums here with their children and making good use of the soft play as well – not forgetting grandmas and granddads enjoying a cake and coffee. What a great success for our first open event, we look forward to many more.”
Goodings Accounts raised £150. Lorna Willcox said, “Thank you to everyone who attended and donated cakes yesterday. It was lovely to see you all and for a great cause.”
Dentons Directories even held their own ‘Star Baker’ award. The company said, “Every successful firm needs an office star baker, and Robin Denton of Dentons Directories Ltd. in Westbury was pleased to confer the honour on one of the newest members of the Dentons digital team, Jo Scott.
“The main difficulty all the staff had was having to sample every cake before casting their votes! The company raised £105 for Macmillan, a cause Dentons supports every year.”
The Forehair Westbury Macmillan coffee morning raised the sum of £115 on the Saturday with a cake sale.
