YEAR six children from Westbury Junior school successfully completed a sponsored walk last month, to raise funds towards their residential trip.
Assistant headteacher Victoria Withers said, “The children set off from school first thing in the morning and walked the eight-and-a-half mile round trip up to the Westbury White Horse. Many of them got extremely muddy as the storm the night before had left the ground very wet, but it didn’t dampen their spirits!
“The view at the top of the White Horse was not as good as it could have been, but at we could at least see the horse itself.”
Year 6 teacher Hannah Duffy added, “The children did really well to make it up despite the conditions. They were all very tired and ready for their beds when we got back!”
All sponsorship money will go towards the cost of travel for the children’s residential trip to Hooke Court in Dorset during October.
